How to merge PDFs without uploading them
Most online PDF tools send your file to a server, do the work there, and send a result back. For a contract, a medical form or a bank statement, you may prefer that the file stays with you. A browser can do this work itself.
Merge on your device
- Open Merge PDF.
- Select Choose PDF files and pick two or more PDFs from this device.
- Put the files in the order you want.
- Select Merge PDFs, check the result, then select Download merged PDF.
The files are assembled by a worker inside your browser tab, and the originals are not changed.
Check it yourself
Two checks take a minute, and neither needs you to trust a privacy page.
- Turn off your Wi-Fi. Finish offline setup, disconnect, then merge. A tool that needed a server could not finish.
- Watch the Network tab. Open your browser's developer tools, go to Network, and run the merge. You should see the site's own files, and no request carrying your document.
What local merging does not do
- It does not clean the document. Hidden data in the pages you merge can remain in the result.
- Encrypted PDFs are refused. The tool does not remove or bypass a password.
- This build accepts up to 20 files, 32 MB each, 64 MB together, and 1,000 pages. Very large files can run out of browser memory.
- It cannot protect a file from something else on your device, such as a malicious browser extension.
